Are you interested in volunteering to submit an article for publication on Fraser Riverkeeper?

Thank you for your interest! Please follow the guidelines below before submitting an article to our editor. We cannot guarantee that we will use every submitted article, but by following these guidelines you may increase the likelihood of publication.

Your article should:

• Contain high-quality information geared towards Fraser Riverkeeper (FRK) users
• Be written exclusively for use on FRK without infringing on any copyright laws
• Include a headline (title) with subheadings throughout the article (if appropriate)
• Include all necessary links and photographs* (photographs must also comply with copyright laws)
• Be aimed at our target audience water stewards of all ages and backgrounds
• Range between 300-1000 words. Some exceptions may be made for more research intensive pieces
• Be written in the first or second person, depending on whether it is a personal story or an instructional post
• Be written at a grade level between grades 8 and 10

All posts that are published on FRK may be edited. This editing may include correcting spelling/grammar, reworking small sections, and/or changing titles. Please understand that this is simply to ensure that all of our content complies with the FRK tone and branding.

Along with your article submission, please include a sentence or two about who you are and why FRK users would value your insight. For example:

Tim Forrester: Tim is a biology teacher and avid kayaker from Vancouver, British Columbia. He has been exploring the Vancouver landscape with his two young daughters for the last 15 years.

We strongly encourage nonprofit and First Nations organizations to submit articles that share knowledge, programs, and projects to users about restoring and protecting our local waterbodies.

What should I write about?

The goal of Fraser Riverkeeper is to inspire users to protect, restore, and engage with water. Are you an avid camper with insider tips? Did you try standup paddleboarding for the first time and love it? Are you a scientist conducting interesting studies on local BC waterbodies? Tell us your story.

PLEASE NOTE: Articles that have an overt commercial or advertising purpose for for-profit organizations or individuals are not usually published on the platform.
