Wanted: Zine Submissions
Organization: Peel Community Climate Council
Location: Peel Region or anywhere in Canada

Peel Community Climate Council is calling for submissions for our first zine, The Epoch.

Epoch is an extended period of time usually characterized by a distinctive development or by a memorable series of events.

Our small-circulation, self-published zine will feature a collection of community-contributed art, texts, and images. We want to know what the climate movement means, feels, and looks like to you. This opportunity is open to all ages – children and youth strongly encouraged to participate.

This can be a photograph that you snapped at a protest, a poem about your fear or hopes for the future, a letter to your future grandchildren, a story from your grandparents, or even perhaps an essay on climate justice and what that means to you.

Additional examples of accepted* mediums:

  • Artwork
  • Essays (1000 word max)
  • Poetry
  • Short Stories (fiction and non-fiction)
  • Photographs
  • Op-Eds
  • Embeddable Videos

*If you have a piece that does not fit in the categories above, please reach out to us. Ideally, the work must be able to be printed and/or shared via a digital publishing platform.

Content contributors will receive a free copy of the zine, and the youth contributors will be entered in a raffle to win a Children’s book from Ethicool Books.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 14th at 12 pm.

Be sure to include your name, age, and the city you live in.
