Volunteer Membership Drive for Transition Toronto and Circlo

Circlo is a trade circle for providers of goods and services engaging in the circular economy. Circlo provides a platform with a marketplace and a mutual credit payment system for members. Through peer-to-peer mutual credit payment, members can turn capacity directly into local Circlo dollars for trade with other members. Circlo members save cash while expanding their own networks and participating in the circular economy. At this time, we are also testing the idea of a coffee grounds reuse campaign to have cafés make their used coffee grounds available to people to use, such as for their gardens.

Transition Toronto works locally to improve communities and inspire change.

Together, Transition Toronto and Circlo have partnered to do a membership drive to get our first Circlo members.

We are looking for a volunteer to secure new members.

You

• want to support entrepreneurs and are comfortable talking with them
• have a desire to know (or have knowledge) about mutual credit systems, circular economy, sustainability
• are able to get to different locations in Toronto (you can define your comfort zones)

Duties

• talk to micro and small business to inform them about Circlo and ask them to join as members
• talk to cafés about the coffee grounds reuse campaign and ask them to join Circlo as members and for the coffee grounds campaign
• bring feedback from the people you talk to and discuss it with us

We are offering

• orientation, including introduction to peer-to-peer mutual credit clearing, the circular economy and a coffee grounds recycling campaign
• ongoing support and troubleshooting
• a letter of recommendation for your use about your work with us

Hours: Part-time
Duration: Minimum two months
