Position: Advisory Board Members

Youth Action on Climate Change is assembling an advisory board of professionals to support its existing operations and provide guidance on new programs. If you are passionate about supporting community-based climate action and working with young leaders, then we encourage you to apply!

About the Youth Action on Climate Change Advisory Board

The role of the Youth Action on Climate Change Advisory Board is to (1) provide feedback and guidance and (2) support youth in the successful execution of programs.

Our organization is by youth, for youth. Our programming is entirely run by young people at the high school and university levels.

We are looking to establish an advisory board of professionals to provide programming oversight and mentorship to the young people in our organization. We are hoping to identify professionals working across various industries (academia, non-profit, private sector, etc) who are passionate about environmental issues and interested in working with youth. The roll on the board will be fairly hands-off. Mostly, we are hoping the advisory board will be able to help the organization with some logistical, operating matters including finances, non-profit governance, organizational development, etc, while supporting our programming and community-based projects.

Our Inaugural Advisory Board is seeking 6-8 members. The term will be two years, beginning in September 2020. The time commitment is estimated to range from 10 – 20 hours a month depending on the time of year and activities.

Skills & Experience Sought for Advisory Board:

Finance, operations management, non-profit/charity governance, organizational development, legal, knowledge of environmental issues, familiarity with environmental governance, marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement, grant writing and fundraising.

Youth Action on Climate Change is a community incubator dedicated to empowering youth voices on climate and cultivating the next generation of environmental leaders. We provide environmental leadership programming to young people in the Waterloo-Wellington region and help youth execute their own climate action projects within their community.
