About Us

The Aster Foundation Inc. is an independent charitable foundation designed to support environmental protection, conservation, and stewardship projects. We provide financial, strategic, and educational support to eligible organizations undertaking environmental protection, conservation, education, and stewardship projects. We aim to support strategic, high-impact projects that are under-funded or not typically funded by government funding programs, and in areas that tend to receive less support from large grantmakers. The Aster Foundation is an early-stage foundation, looking to raise money while simultaneously developing and implementing processes to begin dispersing funds in support of strategic, high-impact environmental initiatives. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our board of directors, in particular those who love fundraising. With no paid staff (at the moment), ours is a working board, which means that nothing gets done if board members don’t do it! New board member(s) will join the three founding board members on a small but mighty volunteer team. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about organizational development from the ground up.

Location: Anywhere in Canada; board members meet and work virtually.

Term: One year, renewable

  • Experience as a board member for a non-profit or charitable organization in Canada; understanding of board governance
  • Passion for fundraising; fundraising experience

  • Pursuant to the Companies Act, all board members must be 19 years or older
