Learn the delicate art of coffee roasting while living off grid in a stunning location in beautiful BC!

We have always been interested in sharing our piece of paradise in the mountains of BC with the right kind of people. For years, we did that by hosting WWOOFers and workawayers, but now we are interested in finding a longer-term arrangement.

What we have to offer is a well-insulated cabin (rent free), with a woodstove, Wifi access, and – at some point, a kitchen. There is enough space in our garden to grow more than enough food for ourselves and whoever might wish to join us. You, the apprentice could grow  as much of their own food as you'd like or have time for! There are also medicinal herb gardens to enjoy, and learn about if interested.

As far as the coffee roasting aspect, we would work out a profit sharing arrangement, so there would be some income available – not huge, as of yet, but there’s lots of potential to expand, depending on desire and motivation. For now, we can estimate that a minimum of  500 “stipend” is feasible, possibly more. If said coffee apprentice wanted to make more income by increasing sales, they would benefit from all the extra income (after expenses).

At minimum, the coffee roasting, bagging and labeling take up to 3 days depending how efficient you are. This is also an ideal situation for an artist or writer, or someone with other projects on the go. Internet via Satellite is included.

This could be an all year round arrangement, or a shorter term/seasonal one, starting as soon as possible. A trial run would be necessary to ensure this is a good fit for all.

There is so much more to say : about our beautiful location outside of Lillooet on unceded St’at’imc territory, on the edge of wilderness, in a semi intentional community; we are powered by a community run, alternative power system; we designed and built our straw bale home with the help of hundreds of hands; Gillian owns and runs a small but busy medicinal herb business; and we have 2 adorable dogs!
