Could you help us create a For Our Kids local group in your community?

For Our Kids is a network in Canada, dedicated to organizing parents, grandparents, and others concerned about how the climate crisis is impacting kids. Our vision is a green, equitable, and just world where all of our children, grandchildren and future generations can grow up safe and healthy. But we know that in order to get there, we need to come together to advocate for it. We take a distributed organizing approach, encouraging parents and grandparents to form or join local teams to take action in their communities, while we provide support as needed. We’re building a powerful constituency of families for climate action.

We’re looking for parents, grandparents, and others motivated by the kids in their lives to start local teams where you live - building community while taking on impactful actions together.

We’re looking for you if you:

• Like working in a team and are interested in connecting with other parents/grandparents navigating the climate crisis
• Are looking for a way to get more involved in climate solutions
• Have 1-2 hours per week to give to For Our Kids projects and organizing - including responding to emails and convening monthly team/community meetings where you live (in-person or virual)

We offer you:

• Some initial actions or campaigns you could work on to get your team active
• Personal coaching via email, phone, or video call (and sometimes in person depending on where you are)
• Regular video calls with other team/group leaders so you can meet one another and share stories, advice, strategy
• Occasional training on organizing groups, communications, social media, etc.
• Small grants to help you cover hard costs for your activities
• Access to a video conferencing account for your use
• Use of our Nationbuilder platform for web pages, sign ups, and petitions
• Amplification of your work through our social channels
