At Elements Society, we’re on a mission to inspire environmental action through education. Our interdisciplinary, action-oriented programs equip learners with the skills they need to take environmental action at home, school and in the community.

About the Role(s)
Educators are responsible for delivering programming in classroom, community and virtual settings throughout the Calgary area. Educators guide participants through engaging lesson plans that appeal to all learning types and empower youth and community members to take personal actions towards a sustainable world. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to fulfill this role and represent Elements Society in a professional manner.

Candidates must have experience working with youth and general knowledge of environmental topics.

Educators are expected to:

  • Work collaboratively with other staff, partners and teachers to deliver quality education programs
  • Go above and beyond to create a positive learning environment and experience for participants, teachers and parents
  • Demonstrate personal leadership, integrity and professionalism
  • Adapt or develop program lessons to meet participant needs
  • Fulfill administrative duties required for program success and assist with marketing, communications, fund development and other functions as needed

What we are looking for a candidate with:

  • Previous experience delivering education programs to youth in classroom or community settings
  • An understanding of environmental topics, particularly food systems and waste
  • Experience in food preparation and safety an asset for the EcoCooks program
  • Ability to deliver programs in both French and English is an asset
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for program delivery and transportation of props/materials
  • The ability to adapt quickly to changes in work with limited supervision
  • A collaborative approach to contribute to a team-based work environment
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs
  • Previous experience in the not-for-profit industry may be an asset
