Are you passionate about working with children and exploring the great outdoors? Camp Kawartha is looking for safety conscious, enthusiastic individuals with a love of the outdoors, and a willingness to learn and grow as a leader in the outdoors this summer.
Job Overview:
Canoe trip leaders have the responsibility of leading our canoe trip excursions to the Kawartha Highlands and Algonquin Park. In this role, Canoe Trippers will have the opportunity to share their love of the outdoors through taking campers on excursions that prioritize safety, fun, and learning about the natural world! While on trip, Canoe Trippers are responsible for the safety and well-being of everyone in their care while also providing a fun and engaging experience. Who can apply for jobs in the Work to Grow Program?
Youth from across Canada who are:
Are only BIPOC youth eligible? — Protecting nature is a racial justice issue. Equity and anti-racism are crucial to protecting nature. We aim to create a world where people and nature thrive and we must all do our part to push for lasting change. Racialized youth face unique barriers in developing experience and finding jobs in nature-related activities. The lack of racialized people working in conservation and nature organizations is a barrier to youth seeing themselves in those roles. So, while our program is not exclusive to BIPOC youth, we strongly encourage hires to come from these equity deserving groups.
Camp Kawartha is committed to providing accommodations for persons with disabilities. The camp will provide support in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, including accommodation that takes into account an applicant's accessibility needs.
Camp Kawartha is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate the diversity of our camp community including differences in race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We welcome candidates representing such diversity.
Located on 185 acres of land, nested in the heart of the Kawarthas, with straw bale buildings, lakefront and 6.3 kilometers of beautiful hiking trials, Camp Kawartha is a magical place to work. As a not-for-profit charity, Camp Kawartha creates a warm and nurturing community that helps children discover the best in themselves, while they learn to appreciate and value the natural world around them. All our summer positions are live-on-site positions.
Thank you to all those who apply. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
