Senior Program Manager, ENBIX

Working within a small, friendly and flexible team-based environment, the Senior Program Manager - ENBIX will lead the programming, identification, development, and revision of product/service offerings, and lead the tactical operations of the Emissions-Neutral Buildings Information Exchange (ENBIX).

ENBIX is an industry Centre of Excellence that strengthens the public, private, and civic capacities for zero-emissions buildings in Calgary, Edmonton and throughout Alberta. ENBIX is a catalytic, amplifying member of the Alberta based community of practice that exchanges knowledge of how to decarbonize the building sector. As a hub for this community of practice, ENBIX interconnects a variety of professionals in the building industry and grows capacity through events, resource development, skills training and communications.

The Senior Program Manager will be responsible, in collaboration with the Alberta Ecotrust Leadership Team, for business planning, ongoing budget management, resource allocation/human resources and the establishment of organizational processes as required to create a leading cross-functional, inter-disciplinary hub that is focused on the advancement of policy innovation, research, capacity-building, collaboration, projects and market investments that accelerate emissions neutral buildings innovation and practices in the context of current and emerging regulation. Contributing to fundraising and the management of various contribution agreements from initiation to reporting will be required.

This position may entail some evening and weekend work. Frequent travel between Calgary and Edmonton will be required.

This position is responsible for the following:

Project and Program Management

  • Determine best fit programs and services that will be provided by ENBIX and provide strategic leadership and oversight for all new and existing building related programs.
  • Collaborate with the Alberta Ecotrust’s Grants & Initiatives and Impact Investment Teams to create and/or align programs and financial products and services with the mission and intent of ENBIX.
  • In alignment with Alberta Ecotrust’s established principles, policy and procedures, develop and manage the business processes, the governance of the Centre, and all committees, partnership agreements, memorandums of understanding, contribution agreements, etc.
  • With the assistance of the Alberta Ecotrust Leadership Team, actively seek and develop funding opportunities to help advance ENBIX’s mandate.
  • Manage ENBIX budget and financial tracking with support from other Alberta Ecotrust staff with financial management duties, as appropriate.
  • Develop, track and report key performance-related indicators and metrics to assess Centre operations and program effectiveness and impact.
  • Lead the preparation of reports on the activities, outcomes and impact reporting to various funders and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of current issues and opportunities related to green building issues, trends, and advances and opportunities and curating these for the Centre membership to inform the ENBIX activities and programs.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking and analysis and oversee the development of case studies to inform the market.
  • Actively develop capacity building opportunities and celebration and recognition programs for industry stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and report on project agreements with partners and consultants.

Network & Partnership Management

  • Maintain and grow the ENBIX network, including academic institutions, training organizations, associations, private business in the building sector, public entities, private entities, NGOs, and government partners in Alberta elsewhere when appropriate.
  • Develop collaborations, partnerships and work cross-functionally with external agencies, industry, academia and community to develop and align planning, programs, products, services, research, policy development, for ENBIX.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership and/or support for major policy, planning or program initiatives that require an integrated approach across multiple sectors and interests.
  • Engage in speaking events and presentations about ENBIX programs to external stakeholder groups to raise the profile of the organization and generate interest and engagement in our mandate;
  • Participate in networking events and external advisory committees with the aim of advancing the mandate of ENBIX and its activities.
  • Work with the chair of the Executive Advisory Committee of ENBIX to support their ongoing governance.

Communications Support

  • Support communications and knowledge transfer around ENBIX. This may include but is not limited to preparing and authoring white papers, blog posts, news articles, case studies, journal papers and other publications documenting project outcomes, presenting at conferences and events, being available for media interviews, and sharing learnings with internal teams to maximize outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of ENBIX communications plans, in coordination with the Communications team.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to synthesize, organize, and elevate various inputs and initiatives including (not limited to): training, events, podcasts, webinars, video content, case studies, studies, general sector information.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Retrofit Accelerator Team to develop a training and educational consortium with different providers across Alberta to help support, expand, and amplify their offerings related to deep energy retrofits.
  • In collaboration with the Communications Team establish and ensure effective CRM usage including use of communication and query tools for building marketing lists and crafting messaging for emails and text messaging platforms.

General

  • Maintain accurate and complete files to ensure reporting is accurate and audit ready.
  • Apply a multi-solving approach to optimize the co-benefits of deep energy retrofits including the application of a lens that does not create or exacerbate existing social and economic inequalities.
  • Manage procurement and external consulting contracts where required.
  • Contribute ideas and expertise to strategic discussions.
  • Include equity, diversity and inclusion considerations into ENBIX including support for indigenous partners.

Skills and Expertise

You will report directly to the Director of Emissions Neutral Buildings and you will frequently collaborate with the rest of the Alberta Ecotrust team.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and expertise:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution or relevant combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading business units/organizations and managing large complex projects and teams. Experience with complex, multi-year programs, networks or collaborative projects, including engagement, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation, directly related to the building sector
  • Evidence of financial acumen and understanding of the relevant metrics utilized in business case development in the field of energy, energy efficiency, green buildings, development, transportation, etc.
  • Direct experience in the development of training modules, educational curriculum, and communications materials would be considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent administrative skills including organizing, meeting logistics, committee communications.

Workplace Culture & Position Location

Alberta Ecotrust provides a flexible schedule and an inclusive, positive, and collaborative team culture. A hybrid model is employed at Alberta Ecotrust with flexible office hours combined with remote working. Frequent travel between Calgary and Edmonton will be required as part of this position. The position can be located in either Calgary or Edmonton.

In Calgary, we have a casual workplace in a heritage building with lots of meeting space, a full kitchen, great access to transit, local restaurants and the downtown core. In Edmonton, we have a co-working space at Work Nicer for individual workspaces, meetings, and collaborative spaces when needed. Remuneration

This is a full time position with a 37.5-hour work week with every third Friday as a earned day off, with a competitive salary range $90,000 - $115,000, plus paid health benefits, three weeks vacation, Christmas break, and day off for your birthday.
